AA meetings, as well as various other 12 Step meetings, provide addicts and alcoholics with the tools they need to deal with life—the challenges we face, our successes and failures, the relationships we have with others— without the use of drugs and alcohol. They teach us not only how to stay away from a drink or a drug one day at a time, but how to find peace and serenity regardless of the obstacles we face.
At the Recovery Associates of the Palm Beaches, not only do we offer a variety of A.A. meetings, but we also offer groups that focus on studying the 12 Steps. Many find that without some form of professional help, they would not have been able to get sober. Therapy can address and treat those issues that require the help of a licensed therapist. If left untreated, these issues could potentially disrupt or threaten your sobriety. Therapy allows you to stabilize mentally and emotionally, preparing you for the work you need to do for your sobriety. However, while you will eventually graduate from treatment, meetings will always be part of your ongoing recovery process. While you are receiving outpatient treatment at the Recovery Associates of the Palm Beaches, you will be expected to attend outside AA or NA meetings on a regular basis. Attending outside meetings will allow you to connect will other addicts and alcoholics and build a strong support system. Through attending outside meetings, you will be able to find a sponsor who can take you through the 12 Steps.
